A Roseburg man is deceased following a shooting early Saturday, with the suspect in jail on a murder charge.

Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Roseburg Police Department said at 3:15 a.m. officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Southeast Hamilton Street.

Allen said officers located and identified the shooter as 25-year-old Austin Adrian Wall. Officers also found 50-year-old Ryan Burchell, who had sustained several gunshot wounds. Officers on scene began life saving efforts for Burchell, until paramedics took over. Burchell was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Allen said the Douglas County Major Crimes Team, which includes the Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office was activated. Allen said a comprehensive and ongoing investigation is underway.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Wall was taken into custody on the charge of second-degree murder. He was detained without bail in the Douglas County Jail.
