ROSEBURG AREA MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED MENACING INCIDENT

A Roseburg area man was jailed for an alleged menacing incident on Monday night.,

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 10:30 p.m. deputies responded to a verbal disturbance with an intoxicated male in the 200 block of River Place Drive in the Green District. A deputy arrived to a male yelling profanities and female’s name from the porch. The male started walking towards the deputy and stated that he had a knife. The deputy could see the man holding a knife-life object in his hand. The deputy held the man at gunpoint and ordered him to drop the knife. He complied as other units arrived to help take him into custody.

The suspect stated that was trying to cause suicide by cop. He said that he told the female victim that he was going to kill her and she would not wake up in the morning. She confirmed what he said.

The man was charged with menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. He was detained without bail.
