ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER LARGE DISTURBANCE

Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged large disturbance early Wednesday morning.

An RPD report said at 12:05 a.m. 21-year-old Anthony Hernandez was allegedly part of the incident involving numerous people at Sunshine Park near the Sunshine Apartments in the 100 block of Sunshine Road. After the disturbance was over, Hernandez reportedly fired shots from a handgun to scare an apartment resident who yelled at him, while running back to the apartment complex across the street.

The weapon was recovered on Hernandez’s person when he was taken into custody. He admitted to committing the crimes. The juveniles went to the Emergency Room at CHI Mercy Medical Center while officers were investigating the shooting. Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the two 17-year-olds about the disturbance. One sustained a torn meniscus during the fight.

Hernandez was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree disorderly conduct and menacing. He was detained without bail.
