ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER OVERNIGHT DISTURBANCE

Roseburg Police jailed a man after an overnight disturbance early Thursday.

An RPD report said at 12:20 a.m. officers responded after a caller said there was a disturbance in which a man was allegedly chasing a woman on Northeast Winchester Street. Officers located the pair a short time later walking on Winchester Street.

The woman fled from the man as officers arrived on the scene. The 38-year-old suspect initially ignored the officers. Upon catching up with the woman, she reportedly appeared hysterical and frightened of the man, stating he had threatened her with a knife while they were arguing. The man was allegedly not cooperative and belligerent with officers.

The man was ultimately detained and charged with menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $8.750.
