Sutherlin Police jailed a woman following an alleged DUII/resisting arrest incident early Friday.

An SPD report said on Wednesday a victim reported that 43-year-old Ruth Becker head butted him and kicked him, in the 300 block of South Calapooia Street. Becker denied the incident and said the victim slammed her foot in the door during an argument, while she was ending their relationship.

Friday at 12:30 a.m. an officer saw the suspect driving near West Central Avenue and Pear Lane. Becker showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking. She also had an open container, which she reportedly tried to drink in front of officers. The woman refused standard field sobriety tests and when told she was under arrest, attempted to walk off.

The report said when officers grabbed her arms to place her in custody, Becker was physically resisting and was taken to the ground. While still on the ground, she allegedly continued to resist, kick officers and grabbed an officer’s thumb and twisted it while reportedly saying she was going to “break it off”. Becker was transported to corrections and a search warrant was granted for her blood sample which was collected at CHI Mercy Medical Center.

The woman was charged with resisting arrest, attempted assault on a peace officer, and for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Becker was detained without bail.
