Artists of all ages are invited to register for a free “Anime’ Your Way” drawing workshop being offered Tuesday June 18th through Thursday June 20th at the Roseburg Public Library.

A City release said former Simpsons artist Carlos Nieto III will teach a comprehensive step-by-step program in which participants create and modify an anime’ character from scratch. Anime’ is a type of art that originated in Japan and is often adapted from Japanese comics called “manga”

Workshops with one class daily will be offered for children at least 9 years old, teens, and adults. On the last day, the regular adult session will be changed to a class for families for families with at least one child aged 9 or older.

The library, located on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, has a large selection of manga, primarily in the junior and teen sections.

Nieto will teach three classes daily. All sessions will be free and last for two hours. Participants may attend only one session.

Classes for youth ages 9 through 12 will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day. Children must be at least 9 years old on the day of the program to participate.

Classes for teens ages 13 through 17 will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the same three days.

Classes for adults ages 18 and older will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on June 18th and 19th.

A class for families with at least one child and one adult will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on June 20th. Children must be at least 9 years old.
