SUTHERLIN WOMAN JAILED AFTER ALLEGED ASSAULT

A Sutherlin woman was jailed after an alleged assault incident Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 2:25 p.m. a deputy responded to the 8500 block of Nonpareil Road near Sutherlin. A man and a woman had reportedly used fentanyl in the 5th wheel on the property. The woman claimed the man had destroyed the inside of the RV. She said that when she confronted him, he pulled a knife on her so she hit him in the head with a flashlight several times, claiming self-defense.

Upon gathering statements and evidence, it appeared that the woman wanted the man out of her trailer as he was overdosing and wouldn’t leave fast enough, so she hit him in the head with the flashlight three times. The man couldn’t be interviewed due to sedation. He had warrants for his arrest. The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center with a large open wound on the top of his head.

The 32-year old woman was charged with second-degree assault and for unlawful use of a weapon. She was detained without bail.
