WORKSHOP OFFERED FOR LIVESTOCK OWNERS

The Oregon State University Extension Service along with the Douglas County Soil Water Conservation Service and the Umpqua Soil Water Conservation Service are holding a mud and manure management workshop for livestock owners, on Wednesday March 22nd.

The event will be split into a lecture and field tour, with the lecture taking place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the OSU Extension Service office in Roseburg. The tour will take place in June based on cohort availability.

During the lecture, participants will learn about management strategies to deal with trampled soil, mucky paddocks and excess manure. Participants will learn about buffer zones, strategies to mitigate over-grazing, and fertilizer management to reduce waste and pollution in pastured areas. Updates will be provided on grant funding available for land improvement and opportunities for technical assistance.
