ALL DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOLS RELEASED FROM LOCKDOWNS

February 21, 2023 3;00 p.m.

Following false reports of an active shooter at a number of schools in the county on Tuesday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday afternoon that all schools had been released from lockdowns.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell said law enforcement personnel responded to each report utilizing active shooter response protocols and assessed each situation. Out of an abundance of caution, all schools were advised to activate their lockdown procedures.

O’Dell said each school in the county was visited by law enforcement and determined to be safe at which point that school would be released from the lockdown.

O’Dell said DCSO was in communication with school administrators and the Douglas Education Service District who assisted greatly during the initial response phase.

Similar false reports have been occurring nationwide since at least Monday.
