CELEBRATION OF LITERACY EVENTS CONTINUE

The Celebration of Literacy continues throughout February with events happening all month.

On Tuesday, students at the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley will make valentines for veterans from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. They will be given to those in the local VA hospital.

Library events start on Friday with activities at the Oakland Library from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and at the Winston Library from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The theme is “Find Treasure in Books”. On Saturday, pirates will be on hand at the Canyonville Library beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The literacy play will be held at Umpqua Community College later in the month. The signature event is, “Celebrate Literacy at the Safari” and will take place Saturday February 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with activities in the Safari Village. Those who attend and have Douglas County children will be able to go through the drive-through for free.
