WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS

February 5, 2023 6:40 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon through 10:00 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 8 to 15 inches of snow is expected with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains including Diamond Lake and Crater Lake. This includes highways 62, 138, 140, and 230.

Forecasters said high country travel could be difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Visibility could drop to below a quarter of a mile in blowing snow briefly at times.

Drivers should carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
