A suspect escaped capture by deputies in a pursuit incident on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:20 a.m. a pickup left a residence in the 200 block of Evergreen Ridge Road in south county. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for violations. The pickup yielded and a woman got out of the vehicle before it began to elude.

The deputy pursued the vehicle up Shoestring Road to Silver Butte Road. It turned up that road and continued before partially sliding off of the roadway after just over 1.5 miles. The driver bailed from the vehicle down into the dense brushy drainage. K9 Zoro arrived on scene and began a track. The suspect’s jacket was located but the suspect was not. The man was identified as 38-year old David Myers of Riddle who has several felony warrants for his arrest and has ran from law enforcement recently.

The pickup was towed.
