The Education Services Department at the Douglas Education Service District is expanding the Youth Advisory Crew, also known as The Crew.

An ESD release said the program is a leadership opportunity for youth ages 14-21 to express their voices and create positive changes within the community. Youth decide what’s important and mentors provide skill-building and relational support. Their goal is to expand youth voices around programs and policies focused on their age group.

The release said the youth involved have already had opportunities to offer ideas. That has included painting the design for the group’s new logo. Future teambuilding plans include a park cleanup and evening social events.

The Crew currently meets monthly in person with a virtual option. Future meeting dates and times will be determined.
