A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10:00 p.m. Saturday night through 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning for parts of the southern Oregon Cascades above 4,000 feet, including Diamond Lake and Crescent Lake.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said moderate snow is expected. Total accumulations of 7 to 14 inches with locally higher amounts up to 20 inches near Crater Lake. Winds will be gusting between 30 and 45 miles per hour over exposed areas.

The Advisory area includes Highway 138 near Diamond Lake, Highway 230 and portions of Highway 62.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult. Very low visibilities may occur as snowfall rates peak Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Snowfall rates may reach 1 inch per hour at times, especially from 12:00 a.m. through early Sunday morning.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
