The Roseburg School District has announced the appointment of Roseburg High School Principal Dr. Jill Weber to the position of Director of Teaching & Learning for the 2023-24 school year.

An RPS release said Weber has served as principal of RHS since 2015 and has worked for the district for over 30 years. Superintendent Jared Cordon said Weber brings her expertise in curriculum and instruction, administration and student development to the position, which provides overall direction and coordination for instructional programs in the district’s schools.

Cordon said, “In addition to her considerable experience and credentials, Dr. Weber exhibits an unwavering dedication to student success and well-being”. Cordon said, “her work has led to outstanding progress at RHS, which saw its highest graduation rate on record in 2021. Our entire district will benefit from her leadership”.

Assistant Superintendent Michelle Knee currently serves a dual role as T&L director and Weber’s appointment will return the position to a full-time post.

Weber, a 1986 graduate of Roseburg High School, said she is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the district in this new capacity.

Weber said, “I have been honored to lead RHS throughout the past eight years and I feel privileged to have worked with such an incredible staff and amazing students for so long”. Weber said, “As I’ve grown in my educational career, expanding service to the entire district feels like a natural path for me and I am excited about this new chapter”.

The release said the district will proceed with a standard hiring process to select the best candidate to serve as RHS principal for the 2023-24 school year.
