Two Douglas County men died in a pickup versus commercial motor vehicle crash on Highway 42, about three miles west of Winston, on Monday night.

A report from Oregon State Police said the crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a pickup operated by 35-year old Jimmy Brown of Tenmile, was towing another pickup when it crossed into oncoming lanes and crashed head-on into a fully loaded CMV operated by a Myrtle Creek man. Brown and a passenger, Jason Elam, also 35-years old and of Tenmile, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the CMV was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, and was cooperative during the investigation.

OSP was assisted by the Winston Police Department, Douglas County Fire District No. 2, the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office and by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
