ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER ALLEGED WEAPON INCIDENT

Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged weapon incident on New Year’s Eve.

An RPD report said Saturday night at 9:45 p.m. officers responded to a call stating that a man was pointing a firearm at numerous people after a verbal altercation in the 3400 block of West Normandy Avenue. 67-year old Gary Staffield allegedly pointed a handgun at a victim after they briefly argued about fireworks. Staffield was contacted later and allegedly had the handgun in his jacket pocket.

Staffield was charged with menacing, pointing a firearm at another, and for unlawful use of a weapon. He was detained without bail and was released on Sunday.
