Sutherlin Police jailed a man after alleged disorderly conduct incidents on Sunday.

An SPD report said just after 8:30 a.m. an officer responded to the intersection of the Interstate 5 exit 136 off ramp and West Central Avenue where a man with a long metal pole was allegedly throwing things at vehicles and was confronted by patrons of a nearby business.

The report said one patron drew their concealed pistol as 62-year old David Torres approached them with the pole, causing the suspect to leave. When the officer arrived, he saw Torres walking away from the area. When Torres was told he was under arrest, he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Torres was taken to the ground, and allegedly threw a bottle of cologne in the officer’s face. He continued to resist and was placed in handcuffs under force.

Torres was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, second-degree attempted escape, aggravated harassment, reckless endangering and obstructing governmental administration. Torres was detained on $6,250 bail.
