As part of Roseburg’s celebration of its 150th birthday, the City of Roseburg will have a Sesquicentennial Time Capsule Ceremony on Monday October 3rd at 9:00 a.m.

The event will take place outside of City Hall at the corner of Northeast Douglas Avenue and Northeast Jackson Street. It will mark the 150 years that have passed since Roseburg was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on October 3rd, 1872.

The time capsule will be buried by the Roseburg Public Works Department with a marker to open the capsule in 50 years on October 3rd, 2072 to celebrate Roseburg’s Bicentennial.

Diverse groups and organizations are donating items for the capsule which is being designed by Paul Whitworth, owner of Whitworth Design. It is being built by metal fabricator Bryson Steele, owner of Built by Steele. Both businesses are located in Roseburg.

Those who attend the Roseburg 150 Party in the Park on Sunday October 2nd can sign a journal that will be buried in the capsule.
