A two-vehicle freeway wreck sent a car into a nearby tow yard Friday night.

A report from Oregon State Police said just before 7:30 p.m. a sedan was traveling southbound on Interstate 5. Near milepost 120, the vehicle was in the fast lane and was being followed by a large SUV. Several witnesses said that vehicle had been driving aggressively for several miles. The driving was described as speeding and tailgating. The sedan passed a slower vehicle and attempted to move into the slow lane. As it changed lanes, the SUV went into the slow lane at the same time. The SUV accelerated and rear-ended the sedan. That pushed the vehicle off the roadway. The report said the sedan impacted a guard rail and rolled down a hill off the southbound shoulder. The SUV impacted a guardrail along the roadway and came to rest blocking the south-bound freeway on-ramp at milepost 120.

The driver of the SUV told a trooper that the sedan’s driver cut him off when he attempted to pass. The driver of the sedan said the SUV was following very close and that both drivers attempted to move into the slow lane at the same time. The woman said that is when her vehicle was rear-ended. The SUV was towed from the scene. The sedan came to rest inside the property of the tow yard, which was closed.

The report does not indicate if any citations were issued, following the wreck.
