HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT

July 25, 2022 4:00 a.m.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. through Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. for central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will be warmer than normal, between 60 and 65 degrees.

Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. During hot weather, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Forecasters said people should take plenty of precautions if they work or spend time outside. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air- conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for the eastern Douglas County foothills and South-Central Oregon Cascades, along with most of the Rogue Valley.
