WIND ADVISORY BEGINS SATURDAY NIGHT

May 28, 2022 10:00 a.m.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 6:00 p.m. Saturday through 1:00 a.m. Sunday for parts of Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said southwest to west winds of twenty-five to thirty miles per hour are expected with gusts up to forty-five miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes western Douglas County and eastern Coos County including Scottsburg, Sitkum, Camas Mountain and portions of highways 138 and 42.

Forecasters said gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects such as lawn furniture, canopies and tents. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree damage and power outages are possible.

The NWS said this event is very unusual for this time of year. With trees being fully leafed, the potential for downed trees and power outages is increased.
