LIBRARY TO HOST OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM

May 26, 2022 3:20 a.m.

Thursday night, the Roseburg Public Library will hold a Facebook Live streaming event about research-based ideas for protecting natural spaces.

A City release said the program will be presented by Teri Fick, Minnesota state advocate for Leave No Trace, a nonprofit organization created to provide innovative education, skills and research to help people care for the outdoors. The organization focuses their work on preventative education practices and highlights issues such as trashed natural areas, polluted water, wildlife at risk, damaged trails, destructive fires and more.

The release said Fick will discuss the seven basic principles of the organization, volunteer and stewardship efforts and educational trainings that teach children how to enjoy the outdoors more responsibly.

The virtual presentation will be livestreamed at the library’s Facebook page beginning at 6:30 p.m. Speaker questions may be submitted before the event at: lrathe@cityofroseburg.org. Viewers who have a Facebook account may post questions during the event by commenting on the live stream.
