Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association responded to a fire on Cow Creek land in the Canyonville area, early Saturday.

Rachael Pope from DFPA said the fire was reported just before 2:50 a.m. The fire was stopped at approximately one acre and was suppressed and trailed by DFPA crews. Pope said additional preventative excavation work will be completed by contractors. DFPA will continue to patrol the fire as needed.

Pope said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
