Roseburg High School Foundation Announces Scholarship Winners

The Roseburg High School Foundation will acknowledge 16 scholarship recipients, and announce the future First Citizen finalists, at the upcoming 2022 Scholarship Night and Future First Citizen Award event.

The foundation released information Wednesday saying they are preparing to hold the in-person event at the Roseburg High School Rose Theater on Tuesday, March 29th.

The night will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. in the RHS Student Center, and the presentation in the Rose Theater will start at 6:00 p.m.

During the presentation the winner of the Future First Citizen Award, and the corresponding $10,000 scholarship, will be announced.

A celebratory reception will follow the ceremony in the RHS Student Center.

The 16 scholarship recipients will be awarded scholarships that range in size from $500 to $1,500.

Scholarship winners include:

Beal Family Scholarship – $1,500 – Carson Six: Parents Ron and Melanie Six. 4.0 GP. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Three sport Varsity athlete, Basketball, Football and Track and Field, Environmental club. Works as a sales Associate/ Cashier for Spirit Halloween. Plans on attending one of the following colleges to pursue a pre-med degree. University of Southern California, Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Gonzaga University, Arizona State University, or University of California San Diego.

State Farm Scholarship – $1,500 – Logan Bishop: Parents: Brandon and Kimberlee Bishop. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses, Yearbook. Involvement in FFBLA, Robotics, NHS math club, Varsity Tennis. Work at Sonic Drive-In, NW Compounding, and The Score. Plans to attend University of Michigan or Pennsylvania to study Computer engineering and Business administration.

Class of ‘65 Scholarship – $1,200 – Logan Klopfenstein: Parents Gary and Jennifer Klopfenstein. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Link Crew, National Honor Society, two sport Varsity Football and Baseball – Varsity team captain for both sports. Created own business Nuisance Abatement, gopher removal. Plans on attending Oregon State or Western Oregon State University, George Fox or University of Arizona with studies to prepare for a career in Anesthesiology in the medical field.

Ross Hansen Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Jonah Hibbert: Parents Shiloh and Kelly Hibbert. 3.949 GPA. Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Marching Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, Link Crew, French club, Worked at Shirtcliff Oil. Plans on attending the University of Oregon to study music performance/production and composition.

Forever Indian – $1,000 – Aiyana Brown: Parents deceased. 4.0 GPA. Multiple advanced Placement and Honors courses. FBLA, Local, state, and National competition champion, Link crew leader, Environmental club, family caregiver. Administrative assistant for a law office. Plans to attend Willamette University or University of Oregon for a degree in Business Marketing.

RHS Foundation – $1,000 – Carter Dryden: Parents Thomas and Liberty Dryden. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced placement and Honors courses. Marching Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Link crew, Varsity tennis, Captain of the Varsity Cross Country team, Wildlife Safari Zookeeper program. Plans to attend Oregon State University for a Civil Engineering degree.

RHS Foundation – $1,000 – Eliza Eckman: Parents Nathan and Mary Eckman. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Wind Ensemble, Youth Orchestra, Key club, National Honor Society, Tutoring School house world, 4-year, 2 sport Varsity Track and Cross Country. Plans to attend Oregon State University for a degree in Biology.

RHS Foundation – $1,000 – Brian Powell: Parents John and Verelle Powell. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced placement and Honors classes. Marching, Wind, Jazz Ensembles, Robotics, FBLA, 2 sport Varsity Tennis and Cross country. Part time dental office assistant. Plans to attend either Oregon State University or Brigham Young University for a degree in Computer Science.

RHS Foundation – $1,000 – Preston Smith: Cordell and Sarah Smith. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Key Club, Robotics, 2 sport Varsity athlete, Cross Country and Track and Field. Worked at Norris Blueberries, Boys and Girls Club and Harvard Dental Group. Plans on attending either BYU, Oregon State, Cal. Poly or NC State to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

RHS Foundation – $1,000 – Anna Willis: 3.95 GPA. Parents: Mother Penny Willis. Father Dennis Willis. Marching and Wind Ensemble. Symphonic and Basketball Pep Band. Works at Red Robin, babysitting and some construction work. Plans on attending Umpqua Community College for studies towards a Physician’s Assistant Career. RHS

Foundation – $600 – Josiah Vincent: Parents: Charles and Karen Vincent. 3.35 GPA. Two[1]sport Varsity Athlete – Cross Country and Track and Field. Works at Fred Meyer. Plans on attending Umpqua Community College with a career goal of impacting others (organizations such as World vision that works with overseas communities in need of clean water and food) through music and visual media.

RHS Foundation – $500 – Emily Hundley: Parents Charles and Mary Hundley. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Marching and Wind Ensembles, Yearbook, Link Crew, National Honor Society. Works at Carl Jr, Babysitting. Plans to attend University of St. Thomas (Houston) with studies to prepare for a career in the medical field.

RHS Foundation – $500 – Eva McMillan: Parent Amy-Rochelle Perrin. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Marching and Wind Ensembles, Jazz Combo, Drum Major, Varsity Golf team – captain, French Club, Link Crew, National Honor Society. Works at Maurice’s and as an intern at I.E Engineering. Plans on attending either University of Oregon, Pratt Institute or Cal Poly Tech to pursue an Architectural degree.

RHS Foundation – $500 – Tucker Thompson: Parents Matthew and Jennifer Thompson.3.95 GPA. Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Marching, Wind and Jazz Ensemble, Basketball Pep Band, Concert Choir. Own business, Tucker Thompson Yard Maintenance, and works for family business. Plans to attend the Cornish College of the Arts to be trained as a professional singer[1]songwriter, trombonist, pianist, and producer.

RHS Foundation – $500 – Alexis Reneau: Parents Greg and Dawn Reneau. 4.0 GPA. Multiple Advanced placement and Honors classes. Cheerleading, Link Crew, National Honor Society, Distinguished Young woman. Works as a receptionist in a doctor’s office and medical scribe. Plans to attend either Brigham Young University or Boise State University to pursue studies towards a medical degree and career.

RHS Foundation – $500 – Charis Sensabaugh: Parents Timothy and Elise Sensabaugh. 3.923 GPA. Multiple Advanced Placement and Honors classes. Marching and Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, National Honor Society, OMEA All State Choir. Works at Boys and Girls Club, Babysitting. Plans to attend the University of Oregon and study Linguistics.
