A Sutherlin man was jailed after a high-speed police pursuit on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:15 p.m. 40-year old Casey Holder was allegedly seen riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed heading into Sutherlin on Nonpariel Road. Once the suspect passed a deputy, he pulled into the parking lot of a business and acted like he was working on his bike, according to the report.

A few minutes later the suspect left the parking lot and when he saw the deputy the pursuit began. Holder allegedly took off east on Nonpariel at speeds between 80 and 150 miles per hour. The deputy ultimately lost track of the suspect near Banks Creek Road.

The report said a caller said the suspect was at a location in the 16,000 block of Nonpariel where Holder had hidden the bike. The deputy contacted the suspect who was inside the residence. Holder admitted to the pursuit and said he ran because he didn’t want a ticket for driving while suspended.

Holder was charged with attempt to elude in a vehicle, reckless driving, and reckless endangering. He was released on Saturday.
