In the KQEN Business Spotlight:
Ten months after filing a development application with the City of Roseburg, construction is beginning for the local In-N-Out Burger location.

On Friday, John Lazur of the City’s Community Development Department told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the company had recently contacted officials to say the project would get underway Monday. On Saturday, the 2-acre parcel on Northwest Aviation Drive next to Interstate 5 was already fenced off with some ground preparation work underway. Two pieces of heavy equipment and a couple of workers were on the site.
The 2021 site plan review document said the company plans to develop a 3,885 square foot restaurant with drive through service and outdoor patio seating. The associated work site would include 71 parking spaces and over 26,000 square feet of landscape area.
Last year In-N-Out’s Vice President of Real Estate & Development Carl Arena said once construction begins on a new location, it usually takes 5 to 6 months to build the restaurant and be open for business.
The company began initial discussions with the City regarding the property in October of 2020.
In-N-Out opened its first location in California in 1948 in a space that was barely ten square feet in size. The company celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018 and had 334 locations at that time. There are currently three other In-N-Out locations in Oregon according to the company’s website. They are in Keizer, Grants Pass and Medford.
News Radio 1240 KQEN is seeking additional information on the project from City officials and from In-N-Out.
