OREGON REPORTS OVER 18,000 COVID-19 CASES IN 3 DAY PERIOD

The state of Oregon reported over 18,000 new cases of COVID-19 in a three-day period between Friday and Sunday.

COVID-19 has claimed 18 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 5,779, as of Monday. An update from the Oregon Health Authority said there were 18,538 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 478,203.

OHA said COVID-19 testing is in high demand. The number of tests reported for Friday was 51,996, the third highest daily count reported statewide during the pandemic.

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 692, which is 33 more than on Sunday. There are 138 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 11 more than on Sunday.

The new cases include:

*4,393 in Multnomah County

*3,781 in Washington County

*1,926 in Clackamas County

*1,367 in Lane County
