The deadline to submit an application to serve on the Winston City Council has been extended to January 14th at 5:00 p.m.

Finance Clerk Cindy Sarti said the next council meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 18th and applicants should plan to attend.

A Ward 2 seat was declared vacant in December after a councilor moved out of the city.

Sarti said the council meets twice a month, normally on the first and third Mondays of each month in the evenings, and on occasion a meeting may be canceled or a special meeting called for. Councilors are also members of the Urban Renewal Agency board that meets once a month. The person selected to be a councilor may also be a liaison to one of Winston’s boards or committees, and asked to attend those meetings, usually once per month on a specific day.
