WINTER STORM WARNING CONTINUES ABOVE 3,000 FEET

January 4, 2022 4:20 a.m.

A Winter Storm Warning continues until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday for mountain areas above 3,000 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow and blowing and drifting snow are continuing. Total new snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches with wind gusts of 45 to 65 miles per hour at times are expected. This is especially over higher terrain and in areas open to winds from the south and the southwest.

The Warning area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains, Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and nearby locations.

Snow and blowing snow will limit visibilities at times, making travel difficult to impossible. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

Forecasters said travel is strongly discouraged due to dangerous conditions.
