SEMI HITS SEDAN DURING AFTERNOON COMMUTE

September 15, 2021 9:50 a.m.

A semi-truck hit a sedan during the afternoon commute on Tuesday.

A report from Oregon State Police said at 5:45 p.m. a disabled semi was blocking the left-hand turn lane going from Highway 42 to Grant Smith Road in Green. An Oregon Department of Transportation unit was parked behind the semi and was directing traffic around it using the left of the two lanes that travel straight through the intersection.

The report said another semi made a left turn against a red arrow and drove into the path of the car. Witnesses said it appeared that the semi’s driver misunderstood the directions of the ODOT worker.

The sedan had to be towed from the scene while the semi could be driven away on it own. The report did not indicate if any citations were issued.
