INTERMITTENT FIRE STATION CLOSURES POSSIBLE

September 10,2021 3:40 a.m.

The Roseburg Fire Department may intermittently close Fire Station 2, located on West Harvard, during the current COVID-19 crisis due to ongoing related staffing shortages.

Fire Chief Monte Bryan said in the event of a closure, personnel would be redistributed to Fire Station 1 at the downtown Public Safety Center, and Fire Station 3 on Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard, because emergency incident response times throughout the city would be best handled by maintaining those two stations. Bryan said any such closure would be announced via FlashAlert and there would be no reduction in services or emergency response.

Bryan said every effort is being made to limit closures and the Harvard station would be reopened as quickly as possible if a closure were necessary.

If a closure takes place, signs would be posted at the Harvard station, directing people who need assistance to call 911.
