COVID-19 CLAIMS 9 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 3,095, AS OF THURSDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 9 mores lives, raising the state’s death toll to 3,095, as of Thursday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 2,057 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 265,210.

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 1,085, which is 5 more than on Wednesday. There are 299 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 4 more than on Wednesday. Those numbers are all time state highs for the pandemic.

OHA said its most recent update on COVID-19 breakthrough cases, found that 88 percent of the 14,523 reported COVID-19 cases between August 15th and August 21st occurred in people who were unvaccinated. There were 1,739 breakthrough cases, accounting for 12 percent of the week’s cases. To date, 5.5 percent of all vaccine breakthrough cases have been hospitalized and .9 percent have died. The median age of those who died was 83. *22 each in Columbia and Tillamook counties

*21 in Coos County

*19 in Clatsop County

*15 in Baker County

*13 each in Morrow and Union counties

*12 in Benton County

*9 in Harney County

*8 each in Jefferson and Wallowa counties

*5 each in Hood River and Lake counties

*3 in Wheeler County

The new deaths ranged in age from 53 to 95. 3 lived in Josephine County. 1 each lived in Douglas, Lane, Jackson, Tillamook, Umatilla and Washington counties.

OHA reported that 10,970 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of that total, 2,922 were initial doses and 1,604 were second doses administered on Wednesday. 5,669 were administered on previous days, but were entered into the vaccine registry on Wednesday.
