ONE HURT IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

August 19, 2021  3:20 a.m.

One person was hurt in a single-vehicle wreck on Tuesday.

A report from Oregon State Police said just before 8:30 a.m. a large SUV was headed south on Interstate Five, about a mile south of the landfill exit, when it went off the right shoulder for an unknown reason. The driver, a 55-year old Winston man, said he felt a vibration in the steering wheel before the vehicle left the road. The report said once the SUV hit the gravel shoulder, the driver overcorrected to the left and went back across both southbound lanes.

The report said the vehicle then glanced off the center barrier, went back across both lanes again and drove up the embankment. The vehicle sustained minor damage, but an electric wheel chair on the back hitch was damaged. The driver complained of neck pain and was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

No citations appear to have been issued in connection with the accident.
