CHI Mercy Medical Center has made a change regarding visitors to the Family Birthplace.

Communications Representative Sarah Baumgartner said that one visitor is now allowed in the unit per day, in addition to the one support person that is currently allowed in the unit for all laboring patients. Visiting hours remain from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Baumgartner said that children under age 12 are not permitted in that unit at this time.

The new policy now mirrors Mercy’s main visitor policy.

Baumgartner said visitors still need to go through a screening process prior to entering the hospital. Masks are still required.
