Roseburg Police jailed a man in an alleged aggravated identity theft case on Tuesday.

An RPD report said just before 4:30 p.m. a victim called in to report the fraudulent use of his credit cards. An investigation showed the suspect had gone to ten different stores around town, and had also made two purchases online using stolen credit cards which he had found in a wallet.

The report said all the purchases were made in just over three hours on Tuesday. 44-year old Daniel Sherman was developed as the suspect after being observed on surveillance in several stores around town. The man was contacted at his residence and almost all of the property which had been purchased with the stolen credit cards, was recovered.

Sherman was held on 14 counts each of fraudulent use of a credit card and computer crime, for first degree theft and aggravated identity theft. Bail was set at $1.55 million.
