In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Music on the Half Shell concerts are returning to the Nichol’s Band Shell in Stewart Park, beginning Tuesday night.

Shows last year were canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A weekly virtual show was offered in conjunction with Brooke Communications radio stations.

Organizer Clint Newell said MOTHS was founded in 1992 and has grown to become one of the premier summer music events in the Pacific Northwest. With most artists not yet touring, the focus this season is on regional talent.

The opening group is MarchFourth, described as “…an internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking force in the world of entertainment”.  Approximately 20 musicians, dancers and artisans have a presentation that Newell said defies categorization. MarchFourth first appeared at the Half Shell in 2017.

Along with entertainment, those attending can get food and beverages from a variety of food trucks. Patrons can also bring dinner, along with wine or beer. The Douglas County Tiger Team will be at the park, offering free COVID-19 vaccines.
