JACK FIRE BURNS EAST OF STEAMBOAT

The Jack Fire is burning east of the Steamboat Inn in the Umpqua National Forest.

The fire was first reported Monday evening and was initially listed at around 50 acres in rugged terrain. The fire has closed a seven-mile section of Highway 138E from Steamboat Inn to the Dry Creek Store. The Douglas Forest Protective Association has sent one crew to assist firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service.

More details are expected later today from the Umpqua National Forest.
