Douglas County is moving down to High Risk for COVID-19 spread, in updates announced on Tuesday by Oregon Governor Kate Brown.
From this Friday through April 8th, two counties will be in Extreme Risk – Coos and Curry. Six counties will be in High Risk with fourteen each at Moderate Risk and Lower Risk. Curry is moving to Extreme Risk from High Risk. Douglas is the only county moving to High Risk.
Brown said a majority of counties are now at Lower and Moderate Risk.
Josephine and Klamath counties will enter a two-week caution period. That applies to counties facing backward movement. Counties that reduced their COVID-19 spread enough to move down in risk level in the previous two-week period, but see their numbers go back up in the next two-week period, will be given a two-week caution period to bring their COVID-19 case rates back down again.
The release said that caution period will allow counties to re-focus efforts to drive down creeping case numbers and give local businesses additional certainty on their plans for operating. If at the end of the caution period, case rate data still puts the county at a higher risk level, then the county will move to that level.
The next assignment of risk levels will be announced on April 6th and will take effect April 9th.
