An Ohio man was jailed for three counts of assaulting a public safety officer, and other charges, on Saturday.

A report from Myrtle Creek Police said at about 12:30 a.m. an officer observed that trash was spread out in the parking lots of the Myrtle Creek Car Wash and Ray’s Food Place on South Main. Officers found 30-year William Miller sleeping nearby and used a security video to determine that he had thrown all the trash around, and had banged on the door at Ray’s Food Place, with a rake.

When contacted, the suspect allegedly became hostile and started fighting with officers. Eventually Miller was placed in the patrol car where he reportedly proceeded to try and tear the vehicle up. Both Miller and a MCPD officer received medical attention.

Miller was cleared at CHI Mercy Medical Center and then was taken to jail. Additional charges included 3 counts of second-degree criminal mischief, 2 counts of offensive littering and for resisting arrest. Bail was set at $183,750.
