MEN ARRESTED FOLLOWING LONG-TERM DRUG INVESTIGATION

Two California man were arrested on drug charges Wednesday, following a long-term investigation by detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team.

Lieutenant Rick McArthur of DINT said in the evening hours a traffic stop was initiated on Wecks Road near Pacific Highway in the Myrtle Creek area. McArthur said drug detection K9 Trapper was applied to the vehicle and searched for controlled substances. After checking the vehicle, Trapper gave an alert indicating their presence.

McArthur said a search of the vehicle revealed approximately four pounds of methamphetamine and about 1 ounce of heroin.

Both of the occupants were arrested. 42-year old Mark Scherer of Roseland was charged with unlawful possession and delivery of meth. He was released from custody on Thursday. 40-year old Jose Izar was charged with unlawful possession and delivery of both meth and heroin.

McArthur said DINT was assisted in the case by deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
