The Roseburg School Board praised the leadership of Superintendent Jared Cordon and the progress the district is making as part of its annual evaluation completed last week.
A release said board members agreed that the district’s ability to successfully return all students to in-person and hybrid learning in recent months has been among the largest accomplishments. The release said this was done “…as quickly as possible while prioritizing the health and safety of students, staff and the community”.
Board Chairwoman Rebecca Larson said, “The Board is grateful for Superintendent Cordon’s willingness to face challenges with a positive outlook, his integrity, and his efforts to improve internal and external communication”.
The release said key objectives for the year include the successful transition of Rose School to Roseburg High School and the development of the Roseburg Virtual School, both of which will be established by next fall. It said that work continues to improve student, family and community communications, continue safety and technology upgrades district-wide and continue the implementation of the district’s new 5D Instructional Framework.
Cordon thanked the School Board for supporting the district’s Strategic Plan and related goals.
The board is expected to take action to extend the superintendent’s contract on July 1st.
