The External Outreach Site at the old Glide Middle School gym, operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Saturday.
Nate Custer of FEMA said staff can help wildfire survivors as they seek information on their applications, ask questions, and have their documents scanned into a case file. The Erosion Threat Assessment Reduction Team assessments have concluded. Field teams are transitioning to virtual work to complete their analysis and write reports with post-fire mitigation recommendations.
Custer said household hazardous waste has been cleared from 1,834 properties in Douglas, Jackson, Lane, Linn and Marion counties as of Monday November 9th. He said Oregon’s Debris Management Task Force is leading hazardous waste cleanup, prioritized due to the immediate threat to health, safety and the environment.
Custer said the Environmental Protection Agency and FEMA teams began working on the cleanup on October 19th. Crews are focusing on areas where they have permission to clean hazardous waste. The Phase One cleanup of hazardous debris is underway and is free to property owners. FEMA and the State of Oregon are covering 100 percent of the cost.
