DAYS CREEK CHARTER SCHOOL MOVING TO DISTANCE LEARNING

November 12, 2020 3:50 a.m.

Days Creek Charter School is moving to distance learning beginning on Monday.

Superintendent Steve Woods sent a letter to families and staff on Wednesday. Woods said on Tuesday night the district administrative staff team and County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer engaged in a planning session to address a number of reported or presumptive cases of COVID-19 in the area. Woods said all the people identified were immediately quarantined. He said there are currently no known confirmed cases associated with any current student, staff or teacher. While most of the people identified are showing no symptoms, out of an abundance of caution and the potential breadth of the outbreak, the district has been advised to make the change.

Woods said the plan is to return to in-person learning on Monday November 30th.

To help with the transition, there will be school and in-person learning on campus on Thursday, so teachers and staff can distribute needed materials and devices to students. Parent-teacher conferences are also occurring this week and every family should expect to be contacted by one of their child’s teachers

The district had twelve consecutive weeks of in-person learning since starting the school year in August.
