LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM IS UNDERWAY

November 4, 2020 9:50 a.m.

The City of Roseburg’s leaf collection program is underway.

Residents who would like to participate should pile leaves neatly in front of their property.

Public Works crews are going through the City picking up leaves until January. The service is provided free of charge to ensure that leaves are collected and disposed of properly. Public Works Director Brice Perkins said if not removed, leaves can clog gutters and storm drains, which can cause flooding during rainstorms.

The program begins in Laurelwood and then moves in a clockwise direction throughout town. The entire process takes approximately four to six weeks, depending on the quantity of leaves picked up.

Leaf piles should be free of debris, such as tree branches and rocks. Leaves should not be placed in street gutters, ditches, bike lanes, near parked cars or on top of catch basins.

Residents who want leaves delivered to their property can contact the Public Works Department. The minimum amount of leaves delivered is one dump truck load, which is approximately five to six cubic yards.
