Two people were jailed after taking off during a traffic stop in Myrtle Creek on Tuesday.
Detective Kevin Taggart of Myrtle Creek Police said at about 3:30 p.m. an officer initiated a traffic stop on a passenger car near the intersection of First Avenue and Oak Street. The passenger, 33-year old Curtis Hill of Glendale, reportedly walked off during the stop. The driver, 30-year old Kiersten Fuller, also of Glendale, took off running while the officer was checking on her wanted status.
Taggart said the officer chased the woman to Millsite Park, where she was taken into custody without further incident. It was found that Fuller had warrants for her arrest and was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
While that was going on, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office who were responding to assist, located Hill walking north on Main Street headed out of town. Hill had two warrants for his arrest. The suspect reportedly fought with deputies briefly until he was taken to the ground and handcuffed. He was also found to be in possession of meth, according to Taggart.
Fuller was jailed on charges of attempt to elude on foot, third degree escape, unlawful possession of meth, interfering with a peace officer and for the warrants. Hill was charged with resisting arrest, unlawful possession of meth and for his warrants.
Both were detained without bail.
