A Roseburg man was arrested after allegedly firing shots in Riddle on Thursday afternoon.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly before 2:30 p.m. dispatchers received a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Evergreen Ridge Road. O’Dell said it was learned that gunshots had been fired from a vehicle and the suspect had pointed a firearm at another individual. The suspect left after picking up his brother.

Law enforcement officers from DCSO and the Myrtle Creek Police Department responded and were able to locate the vehicle, a pickup, on Main Street in Riddle, where they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. O’Dell said the driver, identified as 35-year old Camden Ellenwood, failed to stop for pursing officers. The man eventually stopped on Interstate Five, near the Myrtle Creek exit, where he was taken into custody.

O’Dell said Ellenwood had gone to the location to pickup his brother, identified as 40-year old Cirdin Ellenwood, who had called for help and stated he was being confronted by some individuals. Instead of calling law enforcement, Camden Ellenwood tried to intervene on his own. Deputies later learned the story his brother had provided was not accurate.

The firearm was recovered and Camden Ellenwood was jailed on charges that include four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, attempting to elude police in a vehicle, two counts of pointing a firearm at another and of menacing, for reckless driving and for second degree disorderly conduct.

Bail was set at just over $278,000.
