MAN IN GRAVE CONDITION FOLLOWING HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT

A Roseburg man is in grave condition following a hit and run accident on Wednesday night.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly before 9:00 pm. dispatchers received a call regarding a man in a wheelchair who had been struck by a car in the 5,000 block of Northeast Stephens, near the Buckeroo Barn, just north of Roseburg.
O’Dell said when deputies arrived, they located a 46-year old man, whose name is being withheld, lying in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. O’Dell said the man had been in a motorized scooter at the time he was hit. The vehicle that struck the victim left the scene before ambulance crews arrived.
O’Dell said the victim was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center before being transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. The man has life-threatening injuries.
Deputies located evidence at the scene to indicate the vehicle involved was a 2014-2016 Mazda 3. The vehicle will have damage to the right front-end. Anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 440-4471.
O’Dell said the investigation is ongoing.
