A California man tried to elude police but crashed on Thursday afternoon.

Dwes Hutson of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 5:00 p.m. a deputy observed a vehicle that was being driven recklessly between other vehicles, before it ran a red light at the corner of Diamond Lake Boulevard and Winchester Street.
Hutson said the vehicle attempted to get away from the deputy but promptly crashed in front of Good Vibrations on Northeast Stephens. The 18-year old, identified as Austin Wilson of Galt, then tried to run on foot but did not get far.
He was initially charged with attempting to elude in a vehicle and on foot, for reckless endangering, driving while suspended and for DUII alcohol. He was detained on $62,500 bail.
