Monday is Veterans Day.

It is also referred to as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day. It marks the end of World War I when the Armistice with Germany went info effect. The war officially ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. United States President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed Armistice Day on November 11th, 1919. The U.S. observed Armistice Day on November 11th, until it evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.

On Veterans Day, federal, state, county and city offices are closed. Regular mail will not be delivered. School is not in session. Most banks and credit unions will not be open. Many professional offices will be closed. Retail outlets are open, though some may have adjusted their operating hours.
